Hydro-meteorology Department

Since the Hydrometeorology department is recently established as so fundamental and important in Kabul University, its fundamental necessity is not yet completed as it would be so. Moreover, the Hydrometeorology department is planned to continuo it’s activities under two different departments named Meteorology department and Hydrology department so that, it is a must to equipped the basic laboratory of Meteorology and Hydrology separately. Also, to achieve the most priorities, efforts would be done to establish some important contracts with governmental and private related sectors.

To enhance the scientific insight of lecturers and students and to increase the studying, research and vocational services qualities, some scientific conferences, seminars and training workshops might be conducted. The main purpose of Hydrometeorology department is to graduate hydro-meteorological specialists to highly involve and have a major contribution in different parts of national economic growth, community developments and country stabilization.

Mission

Hydrometeorology department is established to present young generation scientists in bachelor level proportional to the current demands of the country and due to stable development considerations and community welfare preparations. Based on the pressing necessities of afghan community, modern sciences and knowledge is going to be delivered in all Meteorological and Hydrological related ministries and authorities.

Objectives

Based on Hydrometeorology department’s vision, the main objectives of the program are as below:

  • Presenting young scientists and young trained generation.
  • Actively corporation of graduated men to the Meteorology and Hydrology activities in a scientific and technical manner.
  •  Handling the technical and vocational affairs in Meteorological and water related authorities by hydrometeorology graduates.
  • Quantitatively and qualitatively analysis of Hydro-meteorological data of the country.
  • Creating and developing of laboratories, practical stations and strengthening the agreements with related organizations.
  • Increasing department’s academic members and continuously improvements their scientific experiences qualitatively and quantitatively.
  • Reviewing and updating of teaching curriculum confined with recently scientific and technical developments and improvement of teaching and research methods.
  • Providing a suitable academic environment to grow student’s latency talent and creating co – assistance mentality among lecturers and students.
  • Creating and strengthening correlations with academic centers and related administrations.
  • Continuously keep in touch to create contacts, contracts and agreements with local and international foundations and to call their corporations.
  • Establishment of scientific and academic relations with local and other countries.
