Statistics of students

Based on Higher Education Ministry rules and regulations, high schools, vocational schools and institutes graduates are accepted for admission into the Universities undergraduate B.Sc. programs after successful pass the national entrance examination. Currently, there are totally 640 students in all three departments, it includes boys and girls. 

Internships

All students are required to take a community service learning course or undertake 3 credits of internship in Year 4. The internship is for a period of 3 months with a maximum of 20 working hours per week. Students must fulfill a minimum of 80 total working hours to receive internship credit. The internship allows students to gain on-site experience and become aware of current practical issues in their field of interest. The internship may be paid or unpaid. Students are encouraged to begin planning for their internship at least one semester in advance. The department of NRM, DMD & ESD university focal point will advise students on how to find and prepare for the internship. Students are assessed based on participation, evaluation form filled out by the internship provider, submission of a final report, and presentation following the internship guidelines.

Monograph

To fulfill the B.S. education requirements of the MoHE, students undertake six monograph credits their final semester. Students pursue intriguing research topics indicative of their career interests and write a final research monograph. The monograph provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learned throughout their program of study. The monograph also serves as a written contribution to the Environmental Science, Disaster Management and Natural Resource Management sector. The process for the monograph is:

  • Students’ propose their monograph topic according to their personal interests and career goals.
  • Faculty advisors approve the students’ topic based on relevance to the field of study, timeliness, originality, intellectual merit, and broader impacts.
  • Students follow the MoHE framework for developing their monograph.
  • Students must submit their monographs to their faculty committee before the end of Semester 8. Students provide a 20-minute oral presentation to the faculty committee and students from their department as part of their assessment.
  • Monographs are registered and copies filed in the faculty’s admin office and provided to the Afghanistan Environmental Data Centre library.
