Current Situation
The Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Kabul University, as one of the major and foundational faculties within the national system of higher education, plays a prominent role in the development of qualified human resources in the fields of psychology, educational sciences, and social work. This faculty operates within the framework of its academic and educational mission with the aim of enhancing the scientific capacity of society and responding effectively to the country’s educational and social needs.
At present, the departments of Psychology, Pedagogy, Educational Management, Educational Planning and Policy, and Social Work are actively functioning within the faculty and offer relevant academic programs at the undergraduate (Bachelor’s) level. In addition, the faculty offers three postgraduate (Master’s) programs in Educational Management, Psychology, and Educational Planning and Policy. Currently, 30 members of the academic staff are engaged in teaching, research, and the provision of academic services to students.
In terms of physical infrastructure, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences conducts its administrative and instructional activities in a shared building with the Faculty of Law and Political Science. The faculty is equipped with adequate classrooms, conference rooms, offices for department heads and academic staff, a computer laboratory, a psychology laboratory, and a relatively well-resourced library containing more than 2,500 volumes of books, all of which are utilized to support teaching and research activities.
To enhance educational quality and improve the academic system, the faculty has established eight permanent committees, including the Quality Enhancement Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Research Committee, Discipline and Order Committee, Cultural Committee, Examination Committee, E-Learning Committee, and Curriculum Committee, all of which operate actively. In addition, a subsidiary committee for the review and control of students’ academic transcripts functions on a regular basis.
