Paraclinic Department

The Paraclinic Department provides theoretical and practical instruction in Bacteriology, Pathology, Mycology, Virology, Parasitology, Immunology and Serology, Biological Risk Management, Veterinary Public Health, Epidemiology, Fundamentals of Biostatistics, and Poultry Diseases. This department covers some of the most essential subjects in veterinary medicine. In the field of scientific and applied research, the department is staffed with qualified academic members holding PhD and Master’s degrees, as well as two technicians. It offers strong capacity for applied scientific research across all subjects, which can play a significant role in departmental self-sufficiency. The department possesses skilled and professional human resources that can be effectively utilized in both public and private sectors. The academic staff are fully committed to scientific work, research, and service delivery to society. The department also has good opportunities for self-sufficiency through service provision, consultancy, survey projects, applied research, and educational and training programs.

This department has a very high level of scientific capacity alongside its academic responsibilities and is capable of cooperating with the animal health sector (Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock) and the public health sector (Ministry of Public Health) in developing and implementing policies and strategies related to veterinary services and the One Health approach. It plays a vital role in the planning and design of vaccination campaigns, the implementation of strategic anti-parasitic programs, and preventive measures. Importantly, livestock production is closely linked to animal health and productivity, contributing to household income generation through the provision of veterinary health services, food security, and sustainable livelihoods via healthy animal production, which ultimately strengthens national income. Moreover, the department is well prepared to enhance skills through problem identification, application of modern research methodologies, and the design and implementation of research projects.
