Geography Department
Vision
The Department of Geography, by providing effective scientific and educational services for the youth, has empowered our dear homeland Afghanistan in the field of academic progress, development and human capacity building. The vision of the Department of Geography is to create a well-known scientific core related to geographical issues in the country and the region, as well as to create a quality scientific education system in accordance with international standards and norms.
Mission
Accurate knowledge of the surface of the earth in relation to humans, effective use of natural and human resources, evaluation of its advantages and disadvantages, as well as access to natural facilities and resources of the earth are the basic rights of citizens of any country. To research this national ideal, the establishment of educational institutions and training in the field of geography with the aim of training professional and specialized staff in the field geography is an urgent national need. In order to achieve these structure goals, the existence of the geography department is adorned with the common sciences of the following goals.
• Training of geographers, scientific, professional and expert staff
• Active contribution of graduates of the department based on modern scientific and technical methods in the public sector such as: Land Survey, Environmental Protection, Disaster Management, Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Ministry of Urban Development, municipalities, etc. In the non-governmental sector of the country, such as: structures related to the United Nations, etc.
• Advancing the technical and professional affairs of government departments and the country's natural resources sector by the graduates of this department.
• Creating a master's program in geography
• Upgrading the degree of professors to the scientific aspects of master and Doctoral degree
• Scientific promotion of professors for scientific promotion
•Revival of the Journal of Geography
• Appointment of new staff members
• Compilation of new required textbooks
General and educational goals of the Department of Geography
