Department of Uzbek Language and Literatur

Introduction

The Department of Uzbek Language and Literature was established in 1362 (1983), alongside other departments, and began its academic and teaching activities. Over several periods, it graduated students and presented them to society. Subsequently, due to certain considerations, this department remained inactive for a period of time. However, in 1398 (2019), the department was reactivated.

Currently, this department trains specialized cadres, writers, researchers, and teachers in the fields of Uzbek language and literature.

 Vision

The Uzbek Department trains and presents to society qualified leaders, specialists, and experts in the field of language and literature (literary studies and linguistics) who will play a decisive and noteworthy role in the growth and development of Uzbek literature and in the cultural development of society, as well as in advancing governmental affairs in cultural and literary sectors.

 Mission

The Department of Uzbek Language and Literature of the Faculty of Languages and Literature at Kabul University is an academic and scholarly community that annually bears responsibility for teaching students in the field of Uzbek language and literature. The department is also responsible for training specialists and instructors in the fields of literary studies and linguistics related to the Uzbek language.

 Core Objectives

This department provides students of Uzbek language and literature with opportunities to gain proficiency in scientific and specialized research. It also plays an important, valuable, and effective role in training literary cadres and in the effective teaching of the Uzbek language. Graduates acquire the following skills:

  • Professional competence in teaching Uzbek language and literature;

  • Ability to conduct scientific research in Uzbek language and literature;

  • Writing and translation skills;

  • Ability to academically and professionally enrich Uzbek language and literature.
