Faculty of Environment raises the standard of academic teaching and content by engaging students in natural resources management issues through a range of applied activities. Teaching is delivered through a combination of lectures, practical/work exercises, fieldwork, seminars, workshops, and internships. Additionally, the program promotes teachers to develop pedagogical innovations both within courses, units, and the program as a whole. Teachers are encouraged to facilitate simulated classroom activities, group work, and practical on-site activities with opportunities for students to meet and discuss with managers and experts from the sector.
The 3-credit internship placement and community service learning course allow students to put their academic knowledge into a real-life application. Through such teaching methods, students gain insights and perspective on Afghanistan’s natural resources management programs, policies, and organizations working in the field, while developing their own personal career interests.
