Dear Colleagues and Students,
On behalf of Kabul University as the flagship university in Afghanistan, I am pleased to invite new students and colleagues to this university for studying, teaching, research, and other academic activities.
Until 1978, the higher education in Afghanistan was in a relatively good condition, but unfortunately, for more than two decades until the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; it suffered from devastation in all aspects. Some of these shortcomings, such as the loss of prominent professors, and lack of required opportunities for developing the educational system in the later stages and even so far, are noticeable.
The last two decades have seen tangible changes and developments in higher education. The introduction of the first and second national higher education strategic plans, the renewal of the legal framework, the increase in the number of higher education institutions, the strengthening of the educational infrastructure, and the transformation of the governance are the foremost achievements in this area.
Kabul University; as the mother university and the largest academic institution in the country over the past two decades has witnessed significant changes and developments in areas like institutional development, access, the establishment of new faculties, departments and centres, changes in the educational system, enhancing academic capacity, developing and strengthening physical infrastructure. However, given the new demands of higher education and the urgent needs of social and economic life in the country, Kabul University should focus on the quality of education and innovative research.
Kabul University is pleased to provide a quality education through 22 faculties and 101 departments in undergraduate and 25 graduate programs.
I am sure that despite certain challenges, this university has the best facilities and educational opportunities in the country. In addition, the vast area and the pleasant atmosphere of this academic centre in the heart of the country, has made this university unique.
We believe in change and strive for strengthening discipline, national and academic values, and, above all, objective-based service. Therefore, we respectfully ask all those who select this university and join us for education or work, to take full advantage of its opportunities and facilities and to cooperate with us in trying to achieve common goals.
Kabul University has had a number of foreign students in the last two decades. With many international partners; this university is committed to achieving a credible international position by hosting students from other countries and attracting foreign scholars and faculties.
We wish that our graduates, service and research should be better and different from others for the development of Afghanistan and the world.
I welcome you to study at Kabul University to shape your life and empower the society or work with us to achieve the desired goals of the university.
