Message of the Faculty Dean
As a result of the wars of the last 4 decades, the Faculty of Agriculture has also experienced bad experiences with the loss of all its assets. Buildings, laboratories, research centers and farms, tools and equipment have been partially destroyed. The staff of this faculty either has immigrated to other countries or has reached old age. In the last 17 years, the younger generation has grown up to be able to lead the agricultural sector in the future.
The agricultural sector is still of particular importance in economic growth, job creation, GDP and other important economic and social areas in Afghanistan. Solving the complex problems of agriculture and rural development in a poor country like Afghanistan, which is potentially affected by the war, requires sufficient trained and skilled specialists. This can be achieved by developing (supporting and empowering) related educational institutions such as the Faculty of Agriculture of Kabul University, which is one of the main aspects in the development of the agricultural sector in the country.
Since its establishment, the Faculty of Agriculture at Kabul University has been a standard faculty and has maintained its educational status despite years of war in the country. Eliminating the problems of the decades of war is one of the goals of the Faculty of Agriculture, with the support and assistance of the United States, Japan, France, Germany, and international organizations such as the World Bank, TIKA, FAO and other non-governmental organizations. . Problems have been partially resolved, and further development efforts are underway. Currently, a number of young and active professors of this faculty are studying for their master's and doctoral degrees at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (sponsored by Japan), Pardew University, USA and Bangalore in India (with USDA funding). . In addition, short-term programs have been launched to upgrade the capacity of teachers.
Until 2012, the Faculty of Agriculture had brainstorming programs with some other universities such as Purdue University, Cornell University, Davis University, Arizona University, and Illinois University in the United States. In addition, Japan provides short-term and long-term scholarships at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. The Faculty of Agriculture has published a scientific journal in which the scientific research of the professors of the Faculty of Agriculture is published.
Graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture can be found in departments such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the Ministry of Energy and Water, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Education, international institutions and other private sectors in agriculture. Hired. However, finding a job after graduation is still one of the challenges for graduates of this faculty.
